Trail & Site Certification Consulting

Green Space Nature Therapy offers consulting services to support land managers, organizations, and communities seeking certification of trails, spaces, or places for nature and forest therapy. Certified sites are intentionally designed to support slow, sensory, and relational experiences in nature, while honoring ecological integrity, accessibility, and long-term stewardship.

Our consulting process follows the standards and framework established by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs. Certification signals that a site has been intentionally assessed and prepared to support evidence-based forest therapy practices, whether for self-guided programs, community wellness initiatives, or institutional partnerships.

What Trail & Site Certification Involves

Trail and Site Certification is a collaborative, reflective process.

Consulting typically includes:

  • On-site or virtual assessment of the land, trail, or space

  • Evaluation of accessibility, safety, flow, and sensory qualities

  • Review of infrastructure (entry points, rest areas, signage, and amenities)

  • Consideration of ecological health, land use history, and stewardship practices

  • Recommendations to support inclusivity, trauma-aware design, and varied user needs

  • Guidance through documentation and submission required for ANFT certification

Each site is approached as a living system, with attention to how humans and the land meet one another over time.

Who Certification Is For

Trail and Site Certification may be appropriate for:

  • Public parks and conservancies

  • Nature centers and preserves

  • Healthcare, educational, or therapeutic campuses

  • Private landowners offering guided experiences

  • Municipal or community green spaces seeking wellness integration

Certified sites often serve guided forest therapy walks, public health programming, staff wellness initiatives, or educational partnerships.

Why Certification Matters

Certification communicates a shared commitment to:

  • Evidence-informed nature and forest therapy practices

  • Ethical, accessible, and inclusive use of land

  • Long-term care for both people and place

It also provides clarity and confidence for guides, institutions, and participants engaging with the space.

Green Space Nature Therapy works collaboratively with land managers to ensure the certification process aligns with the unique character and history of each site, supporting the health of both people and land.
